Joe & Janet Ramirez

Sunday Night Joy

In November 2010, Joe and Janet will mark 25 years hosting Sunday Night Joy, KYCC's gospel music program.

Janet was born and raised in Stockton, while Joe's family moved to Stockton from Southern California in 1972. They met at First Pentecostal Church (now Christian Life Center) and married in 1974. They have four children, Stephanie, Joey Jr., Christina and Nicholas.

Joe and Janet still attend CLC faithfully and are both members of the choir. Janet also serves as a volunteer in the K4 classes at Stockton Christian School. They devote much of their free time to their ten grandchildren and are excited about the arrival of #11, due this August.

Joe's favorite song is "More Than Enough" by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, while Janet's is "All the Angels" by the Hawkins Seminar Mass Choir. They share a love for Mexican food, but Joe admits he can be easily bribed with a pepperoni pizza.

The Ramirezes have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of hosting Sunday Night Joy. Says Joe, "We have had the privilege of meeting many of the singers that we play. We have also had the opportunity to interview two gospel legends, Andrae Crouch and Edwin Hawkins. Additionally, we were inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in November 2009. But even with all that, the greatest privilege we have enjoyed is the opportunity to spend four hours with our precious listeners each Sunday evening. We truly love them and appreciate them for allowing us to join them for all these years."
