Serve Our Stockton Day Update

KYCC encourages our Stockton listeners to take part in "Serve Our Stockton" (SOS) Day, on Saturday, August 7.

Serve Our Stockton Day is an event intended to allow the Christian community to serve our neighbors, our city, our local non-profits, Stockton's most neglected and forgotten ones, and wherever else the opportunity to serve appears.  Simply put, SOS Day is about the Church of Stockton coming together on one day to continue to make an impact for our Lord Jesus Christ.

Specific projects have been determined, including fix-it projects at Oak Park, trash pickup along March Lane, and the painting of several fire hydrants. Each project will require a number of volunteers.

The SOS organizers have a goal of 2,010 volunteers in 2010.  They are challenging Christian volunteers to invite "unchurched" family and friends to work alongside of you and others in the Christian community.  Just over 1,000 volunteers took part in 2009; therefore the goal is to double that force this year.

A concert is planned for the Weber Point Events Center in the latter half of the day, allowing volunteers a time of relaxation and fellowship after their service to the city.

Additionally, as a way of saying thanks to those who volunteer, the SOS website announces that the Stockton Ports have agreed to "Serve Our Stockton" by giving a complimentary game voucher for their Sunday's August 8 game to anyone who works on SOS Day!

So encourage your church to volunteer for that special project and invite your family, friends, and neighbors to take part.
