KYCC is a 24-hour ministry featuring the best in inspirational Christian music as well as some of America's top programs. Our studios are located in Stockton, California. Between our two main stations KYCC and KCJH our signal covers the Northern and Central San Joaquin Valley.
Our network of stations and translators allows us to reach across Northern California. Currently we have signals covering Sacramento, Elk Grove, Vacaville, Dublin, Livermore, Benicia, and Livingston. We also have satellite translators in other western US cities: Provo, Utah; El Paso, Texas; Reno and Carson City, Nevada; and Alamogordo and Farmington, New Mexico.
KYCC is a listener-supported ministry, with two fundraisers each year: The "Fall Pledge Drive" in October and the "Spring Sharathon" in April.
The station was the dream of then-Pastor Kenneth F. Haney of Christian Life Center who envisioned a Christian radio network that would impact the world. It all began as KCJH Radio which signed on in March 1975 with an output power of ten watts covering only the central portion of Stockton. In the earliest days, the station was only on six hours a day.
Pastor Haney chose our first call letters "KCJH" in honor to his late father, Clyde J. Haney.
In the early years, station management desired to increase KCJH's power and at the same time provide 24-hour coverage to all of the Northern Valley, and in 1984 this became a reality. At that time, our home base station KCJH began broadcasting at 26,000 watts of power.
In 1997, KCJH added a second station to its network, KYCC in Livingston, California, at 89.1 FM. Then in 1999, the ministry decided to swap the call letters of those two stations, making KYCC the name of the home station in Stockton. The "YCC" in the name is the acronym for the station slogan: "Your Christian Companion."
In 2009, KYCC received approval from the FCC to expand our home 90.1 FM signal to 41,000 watts, allowing us to reach even more communities surrounding Stockton.
Since 1988, KYCC has been housed in the Darryl Seibold Memorial Communications Center at 9019 West Lane in Stockton. The namesake of the building, Darryl Seibold, was a visionary who directed the station from the late 1970's until his untimely death in January 1988 at the age of 33.
Our founder, Pastor Kenneth Haney, passed away in November 2011, but his legacy continues as the KYCC staff endeavors each day to fulfill his dream of a ministry that truly impacts the lives of its listeners.
What began as a dream in 1975 lives on! Our mission for forty years has been to introduce Jesus to people at the point of their need. We invite you to tune in and find that KYCC can truly be Your Christian Companion.
